Holland Conservation Commission

Minutes of Commission meeting held on November 27, 2012.

7:00 p.m.  Chairperson called the meeting to order.  The minutes of November 13, 2012 were read and accepted and will be distributed.

Present were: Marianne Martone, Acting Chairperson, Marcia Beal, Neal Byrne, Patricia Caron, and James Wettlaufer.  Absent: Nathan Gumlaw.

Mail:
We received a check paying the filing fee and a Notice of Intent from Landscape Evolution to re-landscape the property at 21 Lakeridge Dr. for Faith Paul.  The scheduled Public Hearing is for December 11, 2012 at 7:30 p.m.

We received from the Executive Secretary, Amy Bishop, the Holland Conservation Commission By-Laws which were adopted in 1995.  Copies were given to all members for their review.  Discussion for possible revisions to be made on December 11, 2012.

Neal Byrne reported that he received from John Sargent, Project Manager, Regulatory Division of the New England District, Corps of Engineer’s office a letter granting him permission to proceed with his project that “no review will be necessary”.

Neal Byrne reported having spoken at length to Jennifer Ohop, President of Opacum Land Trust regarding the letter requesting our support for establishing a new Heritage Corridor Forest Legacy Area.   Following discussion, it was agreed that we still need more information.

7:35 p.m.  John Scott showed us a picture of a dying oak which Bruce Curboy of Advantage Tree/Charlton states that the tree is unsafe to climb and he wants to fall it onto the lakebed and cart it off.  A site visit is scheduled for Friday, November 30, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
